Making Supplements

Shaun Ferreira and Logan Gatts, sophomore students at the University of Oklahoma, recently started making their own pre-workout supplements. They wanted to make a drink they knew what each ingredient was and that it would not be harmful to their body.
Ferreira and Gatts started making their own drinks this past summer because they know a lot about pre-workout supplements. Both men have been taking pre-workout supplements for a couple years and decided to make their own.
Ferreira and Gatts can alter their supplements to get the effects they want, which they cannot do with store bought supplements. They cannot always trust store bought supplements because they do not know what they are putting into their bodies; unlike the supplements they make themselves.
“We both have taken a lot of supplements out there so we know a lot about it,” Ferreira said, “We have researched the ingredients that we would want in our drinks to make sure they won’t affect our bodies in any way.”
Ferreira and Gatts plan on meeting with a nutritionist to see if their supplements are healthy and safe and then sell them. Both men want to keep testing different supplements to find a drink with the best effects when they work out.
“We gave samples to our friends to try and got great feedback,” Gatts said, “We need to research the legal aspects of selling our product so we will probably sell to our friends then work our way up to see if we can turn it into a business.”
